Our research team operates at the frontier of clinical NLP — publishing at top venues while shipping models that power real care decisions. As an ML Research Scientist, you'll own ambitious research projects and have the autonomy to pursue ideas that matter, with the computational resources and data access to do serious work.
Push the state of the art on clinical NLP. You'll own research projects on entity extraction, relation classification, and summarization over clinical notes and discharge summaries.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute original research in clinical NLP: entity recognition, relation extraction, summarization, and clinical reasoning
- Develop and evaluate models on large-scale de-identified clinical note corpora
- Publish research at top venues (ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, CHIL, AMIA)
- Translate research advances into production-ready models in collaboration with ML engineers
- Mentor junior researchers; contribute to the research culture across the org
- Represent Curely AI at conferences and in the broader clinical NLP research community
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or related field
- 3+ years of post-PhD research or industry research experience in NLP/ML
- Strong publication record at top NLP or ML venues
- Deep expertise in transformer architectures, pretraining, and fine-tuning
- Proficiency in PyTorch and the broader ML research stack
Nice to have
- Specific publications in clinical NLP or biomedical NLP
- Experience with clinical data (MIMIC, i2b2, PubMed)
- Background in information extraction, knowledge graphs, or clinical reasoning
